Dr. Derrick G. Owens

Dr. Derrick Owens joined The Carithers Pediatric Group in July 2019. Dr. Owens is originally from Currituck, NC, and moved to Jacksonville, FL to complete his pediatric residency training. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he met his wife, Amanda. He earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean, where he graduated with Honors.

Early on he found a passion for advocating for the rights of children; in hopes that all children could reach their full potential, and lead happy and healthy lives. He was Chief Resident at the University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville, where he completed his residency and was chosen Resident of the Year by the Northeast Florida Pediatric Society in his final year.

He now lives in St. Johns County where he and his wife enjoy spending time on the water with their two children, Kirra and Xavier, and their dog, Beau.
